As you know, the Parish of the Resurrection does a good deal of meaningful ministry and outreach in our region, and is having a positive impact on the lives of many people. It is a ministry that needs your support, even in the slower summer months. Therefore the Vestry is launching a new “Sunshine Giving Campaign.”

The “Sunshine Giving Campaign” was chosen as an appropriate slogan for a number of reasons including its likeness to our Parish programs. In its literal meaning, sunshine is something that is vital for life and growth. On another level it is an energy that can provide light, comfort and warmth and is quite welcome by people often living in despair. Sunshine in Newfoundland also comes with summer, which is a down time in our Parish for attendance and free will giving. As a result, the summer season is also a time when the Parish struggles.

Our sincere request is that you are able to pledge $50.00 (two coffees a week for June, July and August) towards this initiative above your regular free will giving. Winston Churchill once said, “You make a living from what you get; you make a life from what you give.” Please join with us in creating a ray of sunshine in the lives of others in our Parish, our community and by your very offering yourself. Your name will be included in our “Sunshine Garden” directory. Enclosed is an envelope with return address. You may also contact any member of the vestry at the above address should you have further questions or require any assistance. Arrangements can also be made to pick up your donation. You can make a difference! You can be the difference!

Thanks so much for all your support!

    I'm inviting you

Back to Church Sunday: September 29

    Who are you inviting?

Back to Church Sunday and focused Alpha invitation is all about the people who are not here. We aim to reach the people who are not here through the people who are here. And success is one person inviting one person.

The secret of the Sower…he kept on sowing!! He learnt to discipline his disappointments.

Not every one we ask will come, but we need to ask anyway – sowing the seed.

12 Steps to Becoming an Inviting Church:

    1. Vision – If every one of us invited a friend and they accepted we would double our congregation. Let’s do it!

    2. I as the church leader am going to invite someone, will you?

    3. Make sure every member of the church has had a personal invitation to invite someone.

    4. Teach about how God connects people through friendship.

    5. The power of your story – to re-remember who invited you.

    6. Get every member to ask themselves the question – who has God been preparing in my life?

    7. Practice the question – “would you like to come to church with me?”

    8. Pray for courage to invite, and pray for those being invited.

    9. Make the invitation.

    10. Go and pick up your invited guest from their home.

    11. Introduce them to friends over food and coffee.

    1. Assume they are coming the following time you meet as a church and invite them again.

    thanksgiving

    Dear Parish Members:

I am very pleased to bring some added great news to your Thanksgiving holiday. We have been approached by a person who has heard some good things about our Church, its achievements and goals. This person is willing to make a match donation of $1000.00, possibly more, to go towards our parish functions and aspirations. This means that if we can raise $1000.00 for our parish in any way, outside of our present fundraising programs, by the end of October this individual will donate the equivalent. One parish member has already pledged $100.00 to the venture. Therefore if my math is correct we only need to raise $900.00 to obtain $2000.00 in much needed funding. The donation at this time of year is dearly needed. If you can help in any way please contact me, Gary or Alfred before the end of the month.

    Sincerely,

    Lynn Clarke
