    Summer

    Notices: Summer 2017

Our Annual Sunshine Campaign has a special envelope in your box of Offering Envelopes. The wardens and vestry are asking that you give an extra donation this summer, over and above what you would normally give. This is to help us meet our ongoing financial commitments over the slower summer months. Envelops are available at the entrance of the Emmaus Café, or contact one of the wardens, treasurer or vestry.

With the summer season upon us, and our parishioners holidaying and less regular at Sunday liturgy, it is even more difficult for us to make our monthly commitments. In addition to the Sunshine Campaign, please consider post dates cheques, or even better, sign up for automatic deposit.

Another way of giving has been set up on our parish web page through Pay Pal. Check it out at www.anglicanresurrection.com

Enjoy the summer, but don’t forget your church!

Automatic deposit and Envelopes: Your responsible financial contribution to the parish is of course very important. Envelops are available on table at entrance to the Oratory.  For more information on automatic deposit, please talk to Winston Bishop or Father Gerald.

    SunshineSunshine Campaign

“Kindness is the sunshine in which virtue grows” Robert Ingersoll

As you know, the Parish of the Resurrection does a good deal of meaningful ministry and outreach in our region, and is having a positive impact on the lives of many people. It is a ministry that needs your support, even in the slower summer months.

The “Sunshine Campaign” was chosen as an appropriate slogan for a number of reasons including its likeness to our Parish programs. Sunshine is something that is vital for life and growth. It is an energy that can provide light, comfort and warmth and is quite welcome by people often living in despair. Sunshine in Newfoundland also comes with summer, which is a down time in our Parish for attendance and free will giving. As a result, the summer season is also a time when the Parish may experience financial struggles

    .

Our sincere request is that you are able to pledge $50.00 (two coffees a week for July and August) towards this initiative above your regular free will giving. Winston Churchill once said, “You make a living from what you get; you make a life from what you give.” Please join with us in creating a ray of sunshine in the lives of others in our Parish, our community and by your very offering, yourself. Please don’t forget the Sunshine Campaign envelope included in your box of envelopes. You can make a difference! You can be the difference!

Thanks so much for all your support!

Back to ChurchBack to Church Sunday in on September 24. This is simply an invitation at the end of the summer season to remind and encourage parishioners to reconnect with their community of faith. It is also a opportune time to invite and bring a friend along to our church community. And if there was someone looking for a church community, this and anytime would be a good time to come along.

    Good day dear friends,

Bishop Geoff Peddle will be joining us on Sunday to help us celebrate the 11th anniversary of the Dedication of the Oratory.
Pot luck lunch is the menu following the liturgy. So please bring along a dish of food to share with others.
A new song and dance will be introduced for the children on Sunday. That should be fun.
It is hard to believe that we are now 11 years in our new House for the Church. We have come a long way in these 11 years. The parish is in the best financial shape that it has been in since I’ve been rector these past 18 years (that meaning that we have all of our bills paid and a little extra in the bank). We probably only have 4 or 5 years left to pay off our House for the Church. We have a leadership committed to our ongoing shared life as a community. We have a community that is continuing to learn how to be in love with one another and every other. We continue to seek ways to reach out to connect with and be part of the larger regional community. We are a school of Love whose Teacher is Jesus, who shows us the Way to connect with all of Life.
We have much to be thankful for on this our Anniversary of the Dedication of the Oratory.
    Love,
    Father Gerald+

meditationIs your mind working on overload? Do you go to bed at night with racing thoughts? Are you carrying your inner burdens and worries with you everywhere you go? Or maybe you would simply like to deepen your experience of life?
Learning and practicing meditation is a means to bring inner peace, compassion and contentment into our lives.
If you want to learn more about this, a meditation group meets at 7pm on Sundays at the Parish of the Resurrection in South River.
