An Important Note from the Rector's Warden

Parish of the Resurrection, South River

A Note from the Rector’s Warden

The Parish of the Resurrection is at a crossroads.  Our financial situation has been extensively reviewed by the Diocese and it has been clearly noted that our income has been slowly decreasing over a period of several years.  As a result, we have been unable to meet all of our financial commitments.

The Diocese sees the Parish of the Resurrection as an important model of ministry for the future.  They want to invest in helping us turn our financial situation around.  The congregation, at a meeting on June 29, has accepted a proposal from the Diocese to accept a loan of $13, 000.00 to start us anew right now!  Going forward, we must meet all of our financial commitments on a monthly basis and if we can clearly demonstrate an increase in our givings by this December, the Diocese will consider forgiving approximately $30, 000.00 owed in synod assessments.  What a gift to be given – a fresh start!

Do you value worshipping together as a community in our church house?  Do you value the Christian education programs offered at our parish?  Do you value the partnerships that our parish has established with those in need in our communities?  Do you value the Parish of the Resurrection as your spiritual home?

There are many ways that you can help the parish meet our new goals – increase your weekly free will offering, subscribe to the pre-authorized debit program to give more consistently, contribute to the Sunshine Campaign, support our parish fundraisers, and invite others to join us in worshipping at the Parish of the Resurrection………….

Since our last congregational meeting in the spring, we have already started to improve our financial situation with increased free will offerings and strong support of our fundraising efforts. Please speak to Father Gerald, the wardens or any member of the vestry to let us know how you can help.  We are confident that everyone is committed to the Parish of the Resurrection and that we can expect a prosperous future together in faith and love.
