PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

For Pentecost of May 31st 2020

Acts 2: 1-11

Psalm 104

1 Corinthians 12: 3-7, 12, 13

John 20: 19-23

Oh Father of all creation,

On this day of Pentecost, let us give thanks and be glad for your loving Spirit, which creates and sustains all things. As Jesus gave of the Holy Spirit to his disciples and sent them out into the world to be ambassadors of your Grace, may we partake of your Spirit and be models of Christ’s life on the Earth.

PAUSE

We pray together, saying,

Hear us, Lord of Glory.

Oh God of Goodness,

Your mercies are over all people and your loving-kindness endures forever. May we, your ecclesia, find comfort in you, and be strengthened in our faith and hope of your goodness. We especially pray for the Parishes of Harbour Grace and Hearts Content.

PAUSE

We pray together, saying,

Hear us, Lord of Glory.

Oh Lord of Compassion,

The world groans under the weight of its problems, of hunger, disease, natural disasters, depression, fear, anxiety and the careless waste of resources. Help us, Lord, to be better stewards of this world, and to comfort others as you comfort us. We especially pray for the family of Bertha Dawe, who has gone home to the Father. May light perpetual shine upon them.

PAUSE

We pray together, saying,

Hear us, Lord of Glory.

Oh Mighty Saviour,

Grant insight and wisdom to our leaders, that they might make the right decisions for the betterment of humanity. Let not their greed or desire for fame and fortune, blind them to the plight of the people and environment, and may they do right by all, and not just the few.

PAUSE

We pray together, saying,

Hear us, Lord of Glory.
