Good day dear friends, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our Gospel for today Jesus tells us to love our enemy\u2019s. This is not something we can do on our own. It\u2019s only God in us that can love God in every other person, including our enemies. We on our own don\u2019t really know how to love God. It\u2019s Christ in us that recognizes Christ. It\u2019s the Holy Spirit, whose temple we are, that responds to the Holy Spirit. Like recognizes like. Only insofar as we have surrendered to Christ and allowed the Christ in us to come to fullness can we love Christ in every other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 17+ years our current electronic piano is having some problems.<\/strong> The parish has purchased the instrument already as music is a vital aspect of our liturgy and one I\u2019m sure you would not want to be without. Starting this Sunday we will be having a campaign to cover the cost of a new electronic piano. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Campaign is called: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buy a Key, Share in the Music. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each key will cost $45.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can buy more than one key or share the costs of a key with someone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Payments can be made by cash , cheque or EMT to the parish. If you are using cash or cheque, please ensure you write  \u201ckeyboard or piano \u201c on the outside of the envelope. If using EMT, please write \u201ckeyboard or piano \u201c in the comment section (finance@anglicanresurrection.com<\/a>). This will ensure proper credit to you and to the campaign. The Holy Season of Lent begins with the Ash Wednesday Liturgy<\/strong> and the imposition of Ashes at 7pm on Wednesday, February 22. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Annual Parish Dinner Theatre<\/strong> will take place at the Bay Roberts Lion\u2019s Club on Saturday, February 25. Contact Dean Spicer for tickets at 680-3497.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annual Reports<\/strong> for 2022 are now due. Send them to  Father Gerald as soon as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are starting a new s<\/strong>ix week Revive course<\/strong> on “Engaging in Scripture” – How to read and meditate with the Bible, beginning on February 21st. Please keep this important discipling ministry in your prayer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be a joint parish (Bay Roberts\/Coley\u2019s Point, Shearstown\/Port de Grave, and the Resurrection) Lenten Quiet Day<\/strong> on the 2nd of March, from 10am to 2pm at St.Matthew\u2019s. All are welcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are sick with any flu like symptoms, please stay home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A number of our parish leadership are doing the \u201cRevive\u201d program<\/strong> this winter. It is a program that helps equip lay leaders to be spiritual leaders. The participants will learn about themselves and discern their life\u2019s calling; explore their faith journey and enter into a relationship with God; enjoy a sense of community and deepened relationships with peers; gain confidence with prayer, scripture, and spiritual leadership; and discern gifts for their calling to serve God\u2019s world. Please pray for those participating in this program this winter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set Sail: Charting the Course for Christ’s Church is the strategic planning process for the Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador.<\/strong> Six strategic goals have been developed for 2024 and 2025 which are being rolled out in 2023. As we work towards these goals together, we will be looking for ways to share the stories of how we are living out the goals. We also want to demonstrate the outcomes from our efforts towards the goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   To help lay the foundation for measuring our progress, we would like to understand the current views of the people of the Diocese on personal faith and parish life. We will use these views as a baseline against which we will measure the impact of Set Sail. Participation is completely anonymous, and there is no direct link between the responses and people or parishes. No personal information is being collected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
