Notices for Week of 9 May

Notices: 9 May, Easter 6
Dear friends,

This Sunday in our Scriptural readings we will hear both from the Gospel of John and the 1st Letter of John the beautiful invitations to love. “Let us love one another, because love is of God.” It is my prayer that we can give ourselves more and more to this deep Love that we call Christ. And may we truly love one another and be lights in our families, communities and world.
Love,

Father Gerald+

Our annual spring auction will run from Mother’s Day to the following Sunday. The auction will be on Facebook so we ask that you share and invite people to help with the bidding. The winners will be notified of their items and when the purchased items will be able to be picked up. Thank you to everyone who donated and contributed to the auction.  If you have any questions, please contact Deanna Spicer 589-5340, dr.dmspicer@nf.sympatico.ca or Shelly Drover 680-1471, shelleydrover@gmail.com.

In person Godly Play has resumed. Share the word.

The number of participants now permitted at liturgy is now 100. Come along, bring a bubbled friend, and pre-register at www.anglicanresurrection.com.

The parishes of Bay Roberts, St Marks, Port de Grave and The Resurrection are holding a prayer vigil, Thy Kingdom Come, on Thursday, May 13th from 10-6pm. We are praying that Jesus will be made known in the world. It will be held at St Matthews in Bay Roberts with all the Covid protocols in place. The Resurrection is responsible for the hours between 2 and 4. You are invited to come for an hour of prayer any time during the day. Bring your Bible and a notebook and a pen.
Please call or email Deacon Gladys at 6832266  or 5284247 or gladysharvey13@gmail.com if you would like to come for a quiet hour of prayer.

PWRDF is now accepting donations to support India as it struggles with the current COVID-19 outbreak. While Canada faces its own challenges and grief over COVID-19, the images and stories of mass deaths, black market oxygen tanks and parking lot crematoria are shocking and heartbreaking. Please keep the people of India in your prayers. To give online, please click here. You may also donate over the phone by calling Donor Relations Officer Mike Ziemerink at 416-822-9083, or leave a voicemail toll-free at 1-866-308-7973 and we will return your call. Or, send a cheque with “COVID India Response” in the memo field to PWRDF, 80 Hayden St. Toronto, Ontario, M4Y 3G2.

Bishop Sam will be in the Parish on May 12 for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Because of the Covid restrictions, this is an invitation event only. Please keep our confirmands and families in your prayer as they open up to the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Vestry: Because of Covid restrictions we did not have an annual meeting last year (The Annual Report was made available for everyone to see). Our hope is to have an annual meeting this year before the end of October. The Annual Report of 2020 will soon be complete and available. In the meantime, the constitution does allow the Rector to appoint members to vestry for a one year term (an appointment that can be made into the regular 3 year term at the annual meeting). I have recently appointed Joe Skanes, Elizabeth Fry and Harley Follett to the vestry. I have also appointed Deanna Spicer at the Rector’s Warden, and Alfreda Bungay has been elected People’s Warden until the annual meeting. I’d like to thank the outgoing members of vestry, Terry Murphy, Lorne Taylor and Jim Escott, for their ministry on the vestry over the last three years.

Rector’s Warden: Deanna Spicer

People’s Warden: Alfreda Bungay
