Notices for Week of 20 August 2023
Notices: Proper 20, 20 August 2023
Good day dear friends,
In the Gospel for today we see Jesus’ own evolution in understanding his ministry as a universal and inclusive ministry. Indeed, at the very heart of the human experience is the need to belong. To belong to another, to belong to a family, to belong to a community, to belong to God. The beautiful truth is, when you spiritually awaken, is that there is no outside of God. In God everyone and everything belongs. What we do and who we are as a community of faith is inclusive and universal. All are welcome.
Love

Preaching from the Presider’s Chair: Some have been asking why Father Gerald has been offering the homily from the presider’s chair and sitting down? The flexibility in the design of our oratory allows for various modes of delivery for preaching and teaching. Teaching from the presiders chair is one of those options.

“Revive” is a program that helps equip lay leaders to be spiritual leaders. The participants will learn about themselves and discern their life’s calling; explore their faith journey and enter into a relationship with God; enjoy a sense of community and deepened relationships with peers; gain confidence with prayer, scripture, and spiritual leadership; and discern gifts for their calling to serve God’s world. Please pray for those participating in this program this fall.
The Sunday Liturgy is live steamed in real time on our Parish YouTube Channel at 11am on Sunday mornings (and can be watched anytime after that on YouTube). It can also be picked up on our parish Facebook anytime after 12 noon on Sundays.
For those joining us on-line, we invite you to use this prayer for Spiritual Communion:
Lord Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Holy Sacrament. However, since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, I beseech you to come spiritually into my heart. I unite myself with you, and embrace you with all the affections of my soul. Let me never be separated from you. Let me live and die in your love. Amen.
