Notices for Week of 27 August 2023

Notices: Proper 21, 27 August 2023
Good day dear friends,This Sunday we will hear Jesus ask the disciples who people think he is. Who is Jesus? There is not a more important question that we can ask ourselves. Jesus reveals the Christ life that we all are part of and share in. To know and experience who Christ is, our deepest and shared identity, is the key to the Kingdom of God, the fullness of life.

Baptism Preparation. Today we welcome Serenity Vida Mary Jane Kavanagh as her and her family prepare for Holy Baptism. Let us keep them in our prayers and love.

Please keep Deacon Gladys and her family in New Brunswick in your prayer. Her daughter is nearing end of life stages.

Our annual Jigs and Reels is being planned for September 30. $25 dollars for eat in or take out. We are also looking for donations to help offset the cost. For tickets or donations please contact Titania at 222-5224 or Roy at 222-4493.

A Parish Weekend is being planned for 23 and 24 September. There will be a free cold plate supper on the 23rd, followed by a presentation by the Diocesan Executive Officer, Archdeacon Charlene Taylor. Bishop Sam will also join us at the Sunday Liturgy as we celebrate the 17th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Oratory of the Resurrection.

As part of this weekend, the Mission and Outreach Committee and the Property and Finance Committee will meet on the afternoon of the 23rd from 1 to 4pm.

Preaching from the Presider’s Chair: Some have been asking why Father Gerald has been offering the homily from the presider’s chair and sitting down? The flexibility in the design of our oratory allows for various modes of delivery for preaching and teaching. Teaching from the presiders chair is one of those options.

Please remember to financially support our parish on Sunday’s, even when you are not there.

“Revive” is a program that helps equip lay leaders to be spiritual leaders. The participants will learn about themselves and discern their life’s calling; explore their faith journey and enter into a relationship with God; enjoy a sense of community and deepened relationships with peers; gain confidence with prayer, scripture, and spiritual leadership; and discern gifts for their calling to serve God’s world. Please pray for those participating in this program this fall.

The Sunday Liturgy is live steamed in real time on our Parish YouTube Channel at 11am on Sunday mornings (and can be watched anytime after that on YouTube).  It can also be picked up on our parish Facebook anytime after 12 noon on Sundays.

For those joining us on-line, we invite you to use this prayer for Spiritual Communion:

Lord Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Holy Sacrament. However, since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, I beseech you to come spiritually into my heart. I unite myself with you, and embrace you with all the affections of my soul. Let me never be separated from you. Let me live and die in your love. Amen.
