Notices for Week of 5 November 2023

Notices: Proper 31, 5 November 2023

Good day dear friends,

In the Gospel for this week we will hear Jesus challenge the religious community on the trappings of leadership and privilege. Is our leadership and shared ministry for the glory of God? Or for our own glory? Do we participate in the community of faith for the benefit of others? Or for our own benefit? Why do we love? How do we love? Who do we love? As we near the end of the Church’s liturgical year, and open up to the watching and waiting of Advent, these are important questions for us to ask of ourselves and of our community.

Love

Father Gerald+

Thank you so very much for your prayers, love and support during my absence in October. I have been working through some personal health issues, and the time away has been very beneficial to the healing process.

A special thank you to the leadership of the parish that stepped up and continued to care for, lead and nurture the community in my absence. So much gratitude for our shared ministry in Christ.

Love, Father Gerald.

Our annual online Christmas auction will begin on November 30th at 7pm and continue until December 5th at 9 pm.  Pickup date and Christmas Bake sale will be on Saturday, December 9th

Lord Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Holy Sacrament. However, since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, I beseech you to come spiritually into my heart. I unite myself with you, and embrace you with all the affections of my soul. Let me never be separated from you. Let me live and die in your love. Amen.

Please use eTransfers to finance@anglicanresurrection.com to continue to support our ministry. You can also contact our treasurer Calvin Adams to set up automatic deposit. Or simply mail your offerings to Box 142 South River, A0A 3W0.

“Come and see” (John 1:39). Remember to pray about and encourage your family and friends to share in our community of faith.

The duty to keep Sunday holy, especially by sharing in the Eucharist and by relaxing in a spirit of Christian joy and fraternity, is easily understood. Sunday is a day which is at the very heart of the Christian life. Do not be afraid to give your time to Christ! Time given to Christ is never time lost, but is rather time gained, so that our relationships and indeed our whole life may become more profoundly human.
